Case Study

Wicksteed was contracted by Bishop Waltham Parish Council to design, manufacture and install new playground equipment for the Pondside Play Area, catering to the needs of both toddlers and juniors with separate play areas.

The Council emphasized the importance of inclusivity in this new development, seeking a design that would be engaging and accessible to a diverse range of children.

For the toddler play area, our design incorporated a linking path, a play panel, and a balance beam, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for the younger ones.

In the junior play area, our inclusive offerings took centre stage, featuring the Swirl flush roundabout, the innovative Rope Crusader, Baroc multiplay Unit, and the Spin 'A' Bounce.

Swing options included Cradle and Tango seat swings, providing a variety of play experiences for children of different ages and abilities.

To complement the play areas, our design included a path, furniture, and fencing with gates, creating a well-rounded and secure space.

The project, initially specified in 2020, faced delays attributed to drainage issues. Wicksteed accommodated these delays, working closely with the client to adjust the project timeline.

Despite the challenges, the project was successfully completed in September 2023. The client expressed great satisfaction with the new toddler and junior play areas and Wicksteed's flexibility and commitment to accommodating changes and delays.

The collaborative effort resulted in a project that not only addressed the unique challenges but also exceeded the client's satisfaction, providing a valuable and inclusive play area for the community.
