New Wicksteed playground opens in Kelso

October 4, 2019

Wicksteed were delighted to see our latest children’s play area open in the Scottish Borders this week. The new £250,000 playground at Shedden Park in Kelso came in on budget and on time. Hundreds of children turned up to the grand opening of the new playground and the facilities were officially opened by Susan Glendinning winner of the Ex-Kelso Laddies Lifetime Achievement Award.

The grand opening was organised by Kelso Community Council and Scottish Borders and featured lots of fun activities and live music. Our very own Area Sales Manager for Scotland Angus Mackintosh had a great time at the event with his family.

Space Themed Childrens Playground

The space themed play park features something for all ages and abilities and features some of Wicksteeds best inclusive play products such as the Swirl Inclusive Roundabout, built in trampoline and a 3 sided sign language panel. The new play park represents a number of new inclusive play areas that Wicksteed have installed in the area.

The centre piece of the park is the huge twin tower bespoke Matrix K7 which Wicksteed were able to produce in a unique colour scheme that matched the requirements of Scottish Borders Council.

Kelso Provost Dean Weatherston said:

“It was great to be a part of a wonderful day and I enjoyed taking my daughter and nieces into the new park.

“It is a great asset for the town and I am especially pleased there is equipment for children with disabilities.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed to the project and those involved with the opening.”
