Playground Improvements at Oliver Plunkett Park - Newry, Mourne & Down
Wicksteed were delighted to see the opening of the new Oliver Plunkett Park for Newry Mourne and Down Council. Wicksteed were asked to remove the existing play equipment, disseminate the consultation report from the customer and come up with a design that took into account the report findings, customer budget and space provided. Inclusive Play was also of huge importance for the customer.
A great selection of playground products
Wicksteed’s aim was to provide plenty of opportunities for play for all ages and to provide a mix of timber and steel equipment. Some key pieces include the challenging Pick up Sticks unit, Crusader Rope Swing and wheelchair accessible Swirl roundabout. For younger children Wicksteed created a mini village which included a Play Train with Carriage, Train Station, Post Office and Shop Play Scenes and Talking Mobiles.
“The play park is a fantastic asset to the village and is al ready being well used by the community and is particularly beneficial to residents on days such as today when the whole community comes together. We strongly believe in the importance of play in a child’s physical and social development, and it is an integral part of growing up, we hope everyone enjoys using the facility. This was an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to all the community that were involved in the consultation process and the play strategy and look forward to enjoying our fabulous play park on the Quarter Road Camlough”.
