Newry Mourne & Down Council – Meigh Village Play Area

Meigh Village group

This was a Rural Development Project for Newry Mourne and Down Council, in a small village called Meigh. We were asked to remove the existing equipment and upgrade the play area to increase its play value and appeal for local children.  We used the current play area and the grass area around it to our advantage for an Embankment Slide, Scramble Net and timber Bouldering Wall.  A trio of toadstools, a Log Walk Weaver, various Log Steps and a pair of Talking Flowers have also been included in the scheme. Additionally, a Kima multi-play system from our Planet Jungle range as a centrepiece and a series of Palm Trees features in the project. An inclusive Basket seated style swing is included, plus a 4Saw See-saw, a Surf Rider and a Zig Zag Twister. The entire scheme adopts a fun and colourful land and water theme using coloured wetpour and inlaid graphics.

“We were thrilled to be working with Wicksteed to deliver the Newry Mourne and Down Council play strategy, and with the official opening of the second completed project in Meigh Co Down this week, it has been a pleasure from the moment we engaged in designing/constructing and delivering of these projects. We would like to thank Wicksteed staff who took the brief and delivered a fantastic park that the Council were really looking forward to opening on time.”
