Youngsters in the Northumberland town of Prudhoe are thrilled with their new outdoor play park which has replaced an outdated facility in the town’s Eastwood Park.  The new play area, designed and installed by Wicksteed, features a variety of inclusive play equipment and colourful surfacing graphics. A separately fenced toddler area features swings, a roundabout and climbing frame and an additional space, specifically designed for older children, features more challenging play equipment and includes a thrilling Zip-wire, Hurricane Swing, Mizzen Mast and a Climbing Net!

Local Northumberland County Councillor Gordon Stewart said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the two councils have been able to work together to achieve such a fantastic new play area for local children.  It has been long-awaited and is going to have huge benefits for the whole of Prudhoe. What’s been really pleasing is that the children from Adderlane Academy are the ones that actually decided upon the equipment to be used here.”

Emma Potts, head teacher at the academy said: “We were thrilled to be asked to help with planning for the play area. Wicksteed visited the school, and the children were able to put their points across. I think what’s especially encouraging is that some of the equipment is quite challenging for the children and their physical development is really going to be enhanced by using this park.”
