Ready for your new play area?

May 28, 2019

So you’ve identified the site, got an idea of the budget you have to work with and now you have to decide on the equipment you want and who will supply it.

Choosing the right company

With a wide range of different options available to you, it’s easy to get lost in catalogues, samples and websites. It’s important to go back to basics and identify who your play area is for. You may have already held a consultation event and gathered lots of info from the local community or you may have a clear picture of exactly what you want for your budget. For more info on public consultations and how Wicksteed can help, check out the dedicated Public Consultation page of our website.

Choosing the right equipment

Working out who your new outdoor playground is for is a great first step in getting the ball rolling on your new play area. For toddler play areas, small scale multi-play units and products like spring mobiles and slides make great options.

For teen play areas, big multi-plays with an element of risk, together with dynamic pieces like large scale multi-user outdoor swings make sure children in an older age group will be entertained for hours. Risky play has been proven to have immense benefits for children so it is definitely worthwhile introducing an element of this to your new play area.

Timber Play Equipment or Steel?

Assessing material choice is vital. Choosing the wrong equipment for a site at high risk of vandalism will only mean more expenditure in the long term. On the flip side making the wrong material choice for a picturesque natural area can mean being stuck with an eyesore for a long time.

We offer a great range of timber and steel park play products to suit any outdoor playground. Our Area Sales Managers are committed to providing innovative playground ideas and concepts and will be more than happy to help you make your playground equipment selection.
